Urchin Workshop recently teamed up with RWS & Associates to produce an epic event at the legendary Knickerbocker Hotel in New York City to ring in the new year. The evening was filled with excitement from start to finish, offering guests an exclusive engagement that brought them as close to the Times Square ball drop as legally possible!
Urchin Workshop was engaged to develop the initial concept, design the guest experience and manage the project from start to finish. Knowing that the hotel was open to a fresh take on the classic NYE party that most hotels offer, we encouraged them to embrace experiential theatre elements to transport guests back to the turn-of-the-century when the hotel first opened. To find the right talent and event design to support this lofty concept, we chose to partner with RWS & Associates, a well-regarded name in theatre and event production.
What became of this partnership was a night filled with surprises and delights: pop-up performances by actors channeling characters from the hotel's past (including many alums from the city's infamous Sleep No More theatre experience), multiple musical performances over two floors and a midnight moment that rivaled anything we've seen before.
Imagine yourself sipping the hotel's namesake martini while wrapped in a fur blanket, 17 floors above times square, as a burlesque dancer gives you and your friends a private performance mere minutes before confetti rains down from above, shot directly off the hotel's rooftop. All this as you see the iconic ball drop in a way very few ever experience; up close and personal. THAT is a #selfiemoment.
